Bat Cave & Riverside BBQ in Bukit Lawang

Experience the cave and relax by the river with a freshly prepared BBQ, a balanced experience combining light adventure, nature and local food in a small group setting.

Just 10-15 minutes from our guesthouse, you reach the Bat Cave (Gua Kelelawar), hidden at the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park.

The walk toward the cave passes through small plantations and jungle paths before reaching the entrance.

Inside, you explore several chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Thousands of bats rest high above in the dark ceiling, creating a unique and atmospheric setting.

While it is possible to visit the cave independently, many travelers choose to go with a guide. The cave can be dark and slippery, a local guide knows the safest route and shares insights about the unique rock formations and the wildlife that inhabits the cave.

After exploring the cave, you continue to the peaceful Landak River, where there is time to swim, relax and enjoy a freshly prepared BBQ by the water.
